On 15th of April, a delegation of the Hong Kong minister of finance, together with Finpro, visited HUB13, with an aim to get familiar with the Finnish Fintech ecosystem. HUB13 was selected as the venue of the meeting because of its inspiring environment and for being the organizer of the upcoming Future Digital Finance Forum -event.
As a part of the visit, a round table discussion was held, with participants from the Hong Kong delegation, Finpro, Nordea Bank and the OP Financial Group.
The round table discussion mainly revolved around the latest developments of the Fintech industry in Hong Kong. The challenges that Hong Kong faces were discussed, as well as the things Hong Kong has to offer for Finnish Fintech startups in their efforts to expand business overseas.
Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury of The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Professor K C Chan, chairs a steering committee on Fintech in Hong Kong. The steering committee has just released a report, setting out a vision of developing Hong Kong as a Fintech hub in the region and proposing a number of recommendations to further Hong Kong’s development in that direction.
